Hey, I’m so glad I can join such an amazing community of likeminded people!
My name is Sophie and I’m behind the green walnuts.
On my blog you’ll find a collection of easy to implement alternatives for a sustainable lifestyle with less waste. I share experiences and ideas, which will hopefully help you to consume resources more intentionally.
As you will read so often in the zero waste community: it is not about perfection but progress. The same is true for green walnuts.
Green walnuts are not yet ripe, but you can already use them. They are like quirky ideas for a sustainable lifestyle, which already drive positive change in all their glorious imperfection.
In high school, I realized a very consumption-oriented lifestyle wasn’t quite right for me. However, it took me a long time to live what I preach 😉 As a slightly reformed perfectionist, I waited until I had the absolutely best solution for a sustainability problem and never really implemented anything.
Fed up and not very happy with my progress, I decided it was time to just start. I didn’t want to wait any longer to have the perfect, mature solution to live the sustainable lifestyle I dreamed of. By then, I was studying natural resource management – I did pretty much nothing else than read and learn about sustainable alternatives!
I finished university with my master’s degree as a certified resource manager and loved to look for zero waste alternatives after (and during, shhh) work. Many hours researching and talking about green living with a lot of friends and strangers led to my blog. I decided it was time to collect information more publicly.
Now, I am back at university and work to get my PhD in sustainable land use and green infrastructure. Before and after work, I share my ideas and experiences with everyone who wants to listen. ^^
If you want to read about zero waste alternatives, conscious consumption or intentional habits, head over to my blog the green walnuts. (I publish in German and English.)
Would love to hear from you!
